About us.
Hi, I’m a systems analyst, vineyard manager, and tasting room manager at Mayhem Wines—but one of my biggest passions is pickleball! I started playing in 2022 and quickly fell in love with the game, attending international workshops and competing in BC tournaments. I’m a technical player and a student of the sport, but what I enjoy most is helping others improve. No matter where you’re at in your pickleball journey, I can offer simple, practical tips to build your skills and confidence on the court. Let’s play, learn, and have fun together!
Terry Meyer started this pickleball journey with me in 2022, and she brings her energy and enthusiasm to every game. With a background in marketing and sales, she’s a master of communication and the life of the party—both on and off the court! She also gives back to the sport by volunteering with the Penticton Outdoor Pickleball Club. Terry loves sunshine, travel, and warm summer days, and you’ll often find her at post-game socials, making connections and sharing laughs.

01
Getting Started in Pickleball
Jumping into pickleball should be fun, fast, and hands-on! The best way to learn is by playing—less talking, more action, with small learnings along the way. The real goal isn’t perfection; it’s experiencing the joy of the game, the camaraderie with friends, and the welcoming pickleball community. There’s no long, tedious learning curve—just grab a paddle, hit the court, and enjoy the excitement of playing your first game!
02
The Power of Fundamentals
Getting off to a great start in pickleball means building a strong foundation. The sooner you learn the fundamentals, the sooner you’ll find success on the court. While fundamentals might sound like something just for beginners, they’re actually the backbone of every great player’s game—refined and reinforced at every level. Mastering the basics early sets you up for faster improvement, more confidence, and a smoother path to higher-level play.
03
The Heart of the Pickleball Community
Recreational play is the backbone of the pickleball community. For many, it’s the most rewarding part of the game—meeting new people, building friendships, and enjoying the sport in a relaxed, social setting. For more serious players, it’s also the perfect place to refine fundamentals and experiment with new techniques before testing them in competitive DUPR matches. No matter your level, rec play keeps the game fun, engaging, and an essential part of your journey.
04
The Joy of Tournament Play
Tournaments are an incredible way to immerse yourself in the game, spending a day or weekend focused on yourself, your friends, and the sport you love. The competition is intense, bringing out the best in every player and making for some of the most exciting matches you’ll ever experience. Win or lose, the thrill of high-level play, the camaraderie, and even the adventure of travel make every tournament a journey worth taking.
05
The Power of Practice
Improvement comes from consistent, intentional practice. The saying “neurons that fire together, wire together” explains how repetition strengthens the connections in your brain, making movements smoother and more automatic. Whether refining technique, building strategy, or improving reaction time, every focused repetition reinforces your skills. There’s no shortcut—deliberate practice is the tried-and-true path to lasting improvement. Higher level players prioritize this aspect of the game.
06
The Circle of Coaching and Equipment Selection
Coaching and equipment selection go hand in hand, forming a continuous cycle of improvement. The right equipment can enhance your game, but it may also require adjustments to your technique to unlock its full potential. A new paddle, for example, might offer more power or control, but only if you refine your strokes to match. Likewise, as your skills evolve, your equipment needs may change to support your growth. By balancing both, you ensure that your game is always progressing in the right direction.
